What to expect
Join us for a hands-on cooking class celebrating the rich flavors and traditions of Italy with Chef Maria Elena Calvi. Born and raised in a small town near Venice, Maria Elena will guide you through making handmade saffron gnocchi from scratch—a classic Northern Italian dish known for its delicate flavor and vibrant golden color.
We’ll start with a meat and cheese charcuterie board, while you sip on fresh mimosas throughout the experience. Then, you'll make gnocchi from scratch, learning how to knead, stretch, and shape the dough in a fully hands-on class. Once the gnocchi is ready, you’ll sit down to enjoy the meal you’ve prepared, served with a fresh salad on the side, in a laid-back and friendly setting.
About the dish
Gnocchi are soft, pillowy dumplings made from potatoes, flour, and egg, then rolled, cut, and boiled until tender. This special version is infused with saffron, a prized spice known for its vibrant golden color and delicate, earthy flavor. Popular in Northern Italy, saffron gnocchi is a comforting yet elegant dish, often paired with a buttery or creamy sauce. Its bright hue also resembles mimosa flowers, the official symbol of Women's Day in Italy!
